Also known as Immortelle and Everlasting, helichrysum has come a long way as far as recognition goes. It’s still quite an uncommon oil, and still very expensive too, but I feel that it’s worth mentioning the benefits- and best ways to use this precious commodity.
One of my fav ways to use this oil is for emotional grounding. This oil is nurturing and comforting emotionally. To use it in a massage oil blend is absolute heaven. It goes especially well with other oils like grapefruit. Helichrysum is also widely known as a healing oil for skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. I’ve used it many times on clients with this problem, with very good success. Even at a 3% dilution rate, it’s very effective. It can also be used for scars, and damaged (especially sun damaged) skin, as well as mature and aging skin.
This oil is a base note, making it a good anchor oil for a blend. It blends well with:
Due to the cost of this oil (and to avoid any possible irritation to sensitive skin), I recommend using it diluted in some form:
- massage oil blend
- facial oil
- infused herbal oil if you can get the plant matter (for more on how to make an infused herbal oil, go here)
